Thank you for taking out some time to visit my page. I believe my first introduction to you should be my rootedness. A person who knows where he comes from, what his roots are, will always soar higher; always thrive in life. I am aware of the immense contribution Kolhapur has made in shaping me. My earliest and foremost inspiration has been Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj. He was an apt ruler, a true social reformer. He wanted to see Kolhapur bloom in every aspect. I am driven by his purpose. At the beginning of my career as the Chairman of Shivaji University Council in 1991, I studied the issues stopping an individual from progressing, this was done at the micro level, leaving no stone unturned. From there I expanded my analysis to macro level, the issues that affect society at large. The interconnection between the two, helped me form a broader perspective. Ever since, I have taken initiatives for infrastructural development of Kolhapur and progress of every single Kolhapurkar. I had the honour to serve as the Minister of State for Home, Rural Development and FDA from November 2010 to June 2014, wherein I placed a ban on Gutka consumption by youth. I also focused on preserving and restoring the monuments built by Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj. This motivated me in obtaining a sanction of Rs. 1,150 crores for development of Kolhapur. From it, Rs. 425 crores were dedicated towards supply of pure and safe drinking water from Kalammawadi Dam, a much-awaited demand by Kolhapurkars.
I ensure that all the development projects I undertake do not harm the serenity of our beloved city. The mother nature and our ancestors have gifted this beautiful city to us, it is our responsibility to preserve its natural traits and pass on the same to our future generations. I request you all to have the same vision, to bring in development without affecting the serenity.
I am thankful to the Indian National Congress office bearers for giving me the opportunity to work as a Minister of State for Home (Urban), Housing, Transport, Information and Technology, Parliamentary Affairs and Ex-servicemen welfare, Government of Maharashtra in January 2020.
Thank you!
